(Evolution of Hip – Hop)
Definition: The potent combination of both Electronic & Hip-Hop genre’s, the Evolution of music. E-Hop, like Hip-Hop culture embodies the 4 elements but adds one more to evolve the genre. The 5 elements are: The DJ, The MC, The Graffiti Artist, The B’boy and The Producer.
Since first emerging in Tampa, FL, E-Hop music has spread around the world and can be heard in today’s Pop music from artists such as Flo Rida, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Black Eyed Peas, LMFAO, Ke$ha and Usher just to name a few. When E-Hop music first emerged it was based around DJ’s who would remix Electronic Dance beats & melodies with Hip-Hop vocals to please both the Electronic & Hip-Hop fans at the same time and bring the two together under one roof. The term E-Hop was coined by DJ’s Kidd Star & Kontrol of the 3 Bad Brothaz in 2004. The first actual E-Hop single was a remix of Lumidee’s “Uh-Oh” by the 3 Bad Brothaz (DJ’s Kontrol and Kidd Star). Following that release Live Wire Empire started the infamous E-Hop Mixtape series which brought E-Hop to the forefront of the Southeastern club scene in cities such as Tampa, Pensacola, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Nashville, Birmingham, Mobile and Atlanta. Several volumes within the mixtape series were hosted by some of the South’s most up and coming DJ’s such as, DJ Lazzzy Boy, Richie Rich, Doc Roc, Lynch, Fanatic & Trancesponder.
In 2012, E-Hop Vol. X will be released and will celebrate the 10th edition in the E-Hop Mix-tape series.
